Morning everyone, wow its lovely to see the sun, long may it last!! Woke up this morning feeling in a stubborn "I dont need painkillers I can beat this" mood. Ok Ive learnt my lesson, will be taking them as I should from now on.
What really fired me up this morning was an article on GMTV which was quite brief but said that scientists have studied the effect of over the counter painkillers ie paracetemol and anyone taking them regularly will stand more chance of going deaf. Well!! thats me stone deaf by Christmas then!! I understand that these studies have to be done, but that little voice inside me says"why not channel this expertise and knowledge into something bigger" ie a cure for cancer, altzheimers or even our insidious RA!!
Its like those adverts for drinking where they show two men or women having a drink and a chat and they are "skeleton"like and the warning comes up about all sorts of horrible things that will happen if you drink too much. Does anyone else out there think we are becoming a nanny state or is it just me having woken up in a feisty, done mess with me my joints are sore mood???????
Feel better now!
Hope all you lovely people are all ok out there, enjoy the sunshine (and no rain!|)

Hi Heather,
Haven't heard this one - you're right, it's always something, ive had to increase my tablets lately - work related stress stuff affecting my RA but i do worry about side effects of meds but as always it's a case of weighing up the pros and the cons of everything.....
i agree these reports can be annoying especially when not backed up with associated evidence - maybe GMTV had some gaps to fill this morning,
i did see something about dementia adverts this morning and a new campaign to change people's thinking and understanding of alzeimers by highlighting real situations using real people affected instead of actors, which i thought was a very good idea. When its real people involved i think its much better & less likely to feel being told what to do / what not to do, hopefully this will help raise awareness in the right way
We've got sunshine today - hope it continues!
Take care love Liz xx

well apparently the most common factor in RA according to my ot is the number of sheds in the garden. more than 1 you are more likely to have it, 3 sheds you are a dead cert!!!! well, not quite but you get the idea.
so it just goes to show- I do think for "normal" people with nothing much wrong with them that taking pills unnecessarily is not a good idea. You have a progressive immune disease. its a no brainer. there are NO medals for martyrdom on here- take the damn pills!! What these things often fail to recognise is what leads a person to take paracetamol, what time of life they are in etc is much more of an impacting factor.
you do develop a RAers ear and RAers sympathetic nod with accompanying smile when people "helpfully" suggest this sort of thing....

Hiya Jenni I couldnt agree with you more!!
My mother in law (biggest hypochondriac known the man) reckons that she's cured her arthritis with cider vinegar. Luckily she lives 300 miles away (luckily in lots of senses of the word!!) otherwise I would probably be force fed the stuff!!
Hi Liz, talking of dementia I heard an advert about it on the radio read out by a presumably dementia sufferer herself, quite hard hitting.
Hope you both ok
speak soon

Oh Heather, I do sympathise with you and I have a rule which I follow now which is my husband reads all the information leaflets insdie any meds I take and then I take them! LOL
I have on occasion refused all sorts of meds because the leaflets scared me too greatly and brought on panic attacks etc!
However the only way to get around the media (and yes, we do live in a nanny state...) for us, is to not watch the tv or read the papers! LOL Simple and very affective!
I tried the cider vinegar when I was 15 and it made me so very ill and distressed I can remember crying on my stairs, then going up into my Epsom bath salts and crying in there too as the pain was so unbelievable and then I met the DMARDs.....
Love,
Amanda

In my wildest dreams!
I can no longer tread in my garden, it is a mud bath and a danger to society in general. I had the drain over flow all over the back door today, gross!
Love,
A
